Backpack Too Heavy? Try an eReader.

When it comes to students carrying large, heavy backpacks to and from school, it looks like not much has changed since I was a student.  However, as digital book readers or eReaders become less expensive and widely available, the prospect of a lighter, even smaller backpack is no longer a dream.

While there are many other eReaders on the market, technology reviewers have identified the best models in the link below, all of which can carry thousands of books on a device that is thinner and lighter than a paperback.

Best E-Book Readers:

If you prefer a device that does more than read digital books but is still lighter than a laptop, then a tablet computer may be just what you are looking for.  While devices such as the iPad are more expensive and heavier than an eReader, they will allow students to also do things like deliver presentations or take notes (albeit on a virtual keyboard, unless they are paired with a Bluetooth keyboard). For more on this subject see my blog post: "Improve Typing Speed and Accuracy on iPad and iPhone".

Best Tablets:

If want an Apple iPad but you're on a tight budget, you can save money by purchasing from Apple's refurbished store through the link below.

By using any of the recommended eReaders or tablets above, students can enjoy the benefits of a lighter backpack.
